Metro Police officers seized a 9 mm pistol, ammunition and R17 600 cash during a bust in Lavender Hill today.
At around 10:30, officers along with Law Enforcement and SAPS executed a search warrant operation at a residence in the area.
They found a large amount of money hidden beneath a mattress in one of the rooms. A further search led to the discovery of a 9 mm Luger Pistol and eight rounds of ammunition hidden inside the drywall partition.
A 26-year-old suspect was arrested and detained at Steenberg SAPS.
A check of the pistol revealed it was reported stolen in Orkney in the North West province in June this year.
